News -------  What's going on in the club and elsewhere!

Local weather forecasts for Gumley from the can be obtained from the links below, the links are set to Mkt Harborough/Gumley, so are pretty accurate. I would caution reliance in anything that purports to give a forecast of more than 3 days in advance in the UK. Unless you think that casting bones can be accurate  :)

Was sent this link to a beautifully produced and evocative short film. Sit back and be glad it's not wartime any more.

About a month ago we were given notice to abandon our water supply and remove the feed line. We were given 4 weeks notice as allowed by the agreement. Needless to say the absence of a water supply to our site would present many problems and reduce its impressive reputation.

Luckily we have some very talented and dedicated members and one of them located a bore hole drilling company with a good reputation and a quotation lower than other firms researched. And with their advice a project to locate a water supply on our own land was put in hand. And a lot of hard work and negotiating was put on Andy and Howard

As I think most of you know clean and pleasant water was soon found at more volume than needed. This was subsequently tested by the County Council and virtually all the EU recomended standards were met. But there were some heavy metals that were above the advisable level.

Andy and Howard swung back into action and located a filtration and water purification company, who congratulated us on our find and designed systems to remove the unwanted elements. We have separated the supply to site to ensure that there is a fully treated drinking water supply and a lower standard for toilets and washing. This is on cost grounds and full treatment would be possible

This Club owes an enormous THANK YOU to Andy and Howard for putting this Club of ours first and their personal life and fighting the flu second. We do not know how lucky we are to have people with the expertise to plan such projects and the dedication to manage them, as well as doing most of the physical work required. Next time you see them please say Thank You and toast them with a cup of tea brewed in our own water.

And we also owe a vote of thanks for those involved in other improvements including the on going extension of the workshop area.

Club Bores For Own Water Supply

This is a photo of our spring water well being bored at the club. In case you are not be aware, Mr Woods as announced our service termimation from his suppy, so a speedy solution was required. Our natural springwater supply should be finalised within the next week following purity testing, the signs, so far, are levels that are quite acceptable.

Motorvation Model Engines is primarily a repair service, but has inherited a lot of spares for older engines; want a new DC dart or Fox 35 for instance?
