Submissions

If the following goes
over your head and you don't know a bit from a byte, please don't
worry. I need content; the form I get it in just means more or less
work for me, although sometimes the wrong format or size can make
things impossible or
ridiculously prohibitive time wise to work the oracle.
If you have a computer phobia, you can always give me hard copy text,
photographs, or anything else at
the field; I'm the mad woman wearing
knee pads and usually found at the controlline circle.
I am also used to photographing things. So if push comes to
shove, you have no camera and need a picture to submit to the web site
for some reason, just ask.
ANYTHING you are not sure of, or need qualifying or explaining. PLEASE
ASK FIRST, I don't have Rabies
or bite. It could save us both
a lot of time and
frustration in the long run.
As
this site is still in it's infancy, I need content to make
it viable and interesting. Any members that have news, pictures, or
short pieces on their own disciplines, i.e.. heli, fixed wing,
controlline, events, competitions/results, or anything of general
interest, please send them to me here
It would be nice if someone had some pictures of the club in days gone
by to accompany the brief history of the club.
Submission Requirements
For MS Windows users (anything
from 95 to Vista: Linux: you should know this already.):-
(Most of the following only require, 'Save As' to be chosen from the
'File' menu of a program (top left of a window), and an appropriate
format chosen.)
Text:
in .txt format please, use Notepad to compose, or Wordpad,
or
your favourite word processor; but please 'save as' Text (.txt). It's
often forgotten that an email program is also a word processor, and can
be set to send as 'text only'.
Please do not
send .doc or .pdf files unless you have absolutely no option; they just take me longer to
convert.
note:
pdf
files can be pain in the rear. In 99% of cases there is no reason to
send anything as a pdf file, unless you are submitting something to a
printer for publication in book or pamphlet form. Although they can be,
they were never meant for serving from a website. There are much easier
and more economical time saving ways of sending information
electronically.
Hard copy:
typed
if possible please.
Please bear in mind that if it's hand written, I have to type it all
out again,
and I am NO typist.
Photographs:
photographs no bigger than 640x480 pixels (click for
size example) in .jpg
format, diagrams/drawings preferably in .gif or png format.
Please do not send .tif (.tiff)
files.
Please keep descriptions brief
for 'Gallery' pictures, as
this is what
I am allowed. Take a look at the galleries to see how the names and descriptions
appear.
Photo names <= 30 characters
Photo descriptions <= 100 characters
Hard copy
photographs:
glossy paper if possible.
Video:
in .wmv preferably, or .asp format, 320x240 , no
bigger than 5MB. Larger than 320x240 (click for
size example) will
produce files too large to use on this site.
note:
Windows
Movie Maker
will do all this for you with ease. It's not very often I have anything
complimentary to say about Windows, or any of it's applications, but in
this case, credit where it's due.
Spread sheets:
in .csv (Comma Separated Values) format please.
Any of the above can be emailed to me here
, as long as the
total size of all email attachments does not exceed 5MB.
If it does, the message will be bounced back to you by my service
provider.
Finally: please remember, I do not know who everyone is,
and just because we have spoken, I don't necessarily know your name. So
when submitting pictures, if possible, please quote who the picture is of? ,
model? and any other useful info.
